Feel like spicing up your ganja game? Christian, but still feel like smoking? Look no more because I got the best guide on how to roll a cross joint. This guide covers A-Z, with the result being a finished cross joint.

Why Would I Want to Roll a Cross Joint?

There are tons of ways on how to roll joints. Some thick, some thin. You can make it look like a flower or a cross. I know for sure that a nice way to spice up a session with friends is a "more fun" joint, and rolling cross joints isn't that big a challenge.

The cross joint is not easy, but it is a nice way to get introduced to artsy styles of rolling joints. If this is your first time rolling a joint, check out How To Roll a Joint - by Leafly. Additionally, if it's your first time smoking weed, check out my guide on the whats and hows.

This can make for a better experience, and you'll know what to do in any and all situations.

What do you need to roll cross joints?

  • Dry herb

  • Your favorite strain of cannabis. If you don't want to roll the entire joint with marijuana, you can use tobacco or a herb blend.

  • Grinder

  • Rolling papers (big and small rolling papers)

  • something to poke a hole with (pen, needle, scissors)

  • Actually, you need scissors

  • Some friends to help you smoke (optional)

  • At least two lighters

  • two more rolling papers (for glue strips)

Step 1: Gather your supplies

Get your grinder, small rolling papers, big rolling papers, and a sharpened pencil. Also, your weed, herb mix, and some friends who can spectate.

I would recommend Elements rolling papers. These work well, and the burning ends burn evenly. If your cross burns unevenly, you might end up wasting some shit. Available on Amazon.

Step 2: Roll The Main Joint

You need two joints for the cross joint: one big and one smaller. For step one, we will focus on the big one.

It should be a fat-coned joint. I have to emphasize the importance of this first joint being BIG. The bigger, the better. It ensures you don't tear it during the later steps and makes the smaller joint easier to fit through the hole. Use full-size rolling papers and cone filters (they help you get the cone shape). You should try filling it almost to the top, just enough so you get a small twisted end with a proper seal. Remember: fat joint = successfully completed step

Step 3: Roll a Thin Joint

This will be the section of your cross joint that crosses horizontally.

It would be best if you aimed for a regular joint (thickness). It should be approximately 4cm or a little above 1,5 inches long. You want the three tips to burn evenly. That way, when they meet, it transitions smoothly to the lower part of your cross joint. If you struggle to fit the thin joint in the thicker joint, you can roll the thin one even thinner. This will result in a more uneven burn but easier installation. Remember: fat joint = unsuccessfully completed step (try again).

NB! No filter should be used. You seal the thinner joint by having two twist ends. Also, you can use a small rolling paper if you have one.

Step 4: Poke a Large Hole in Your Fat Joint

The size of your hole should be the same as the thickness of the thin joint. I prefer to use a sharp pencil for this. Preferably a skinny one. Poke a hole with the pencil approximately 2cm or 0,75 inches from the top. Gently wiggle and rotate the pencil while slightly pushing it through. Repeat this on both sides several times until the hole is wide enough. Slightly bigger than the thin joint.

Step 5: Poke a Small Hole in The Small Joint

This step is crucial. Get this process wrong, and you'll find yourself having a not-so-nice time smoking your cross joint.

Poke several small holes in the center of the second joint. I prefer to use a thumbtack to do this. These small holes allow the smoke from the smaller joint to flow up through the larger joint and into your mouth.

Step 6: Assemble The Cross Joint.

This next step can be extremely difficult or go quite smoothly. If you followed steps 1 through 5, this should be a breeze.

Take the thinner joint and poke it through the hole of the thick joint. Insert gently, push and pull as the thin joint passes through the hole. Be super careful when doing this, as things might break, and broken shit doesn't work. Take your time and do it properly for the best possible result.

Step 7: Reinforce The Cross Joint.

Ok, so by now, you should have a thin joint poked through the hole of the larger joint. It should look like a lousy cross joint at this time. The next step is to cut off the glue strips of two full-size rolling papers. These strips will help us get a better seal.

Without wetting them, wrap them criss-cross around the intersection of the cross joint. Both glue strips should criss-cross in both directions. When done with both, wet the glue parts and seal them up completely air-tight.

Step 8: Light up Your Finished Cross Joint

Hopefully, your finished cross joint looks smokable. Hopefully, it looks just as great as the one in pineapple express. If it doesn't look too good, that's alright too. This is only your first of many cross joints.

Maybe you will find out the small joint should have been a bit bigger or maybe even smaller. Practice makes perfect. Cross joints are super fun. For lighting up, I recommend having at least one other friend holding a lighter or two at the tips. Light up and gently puff, and get on your way!

For Those of You Who Feel Extra

You can put small dabs of thc wax in various places around the cross joint for an extra holy experience.

Good LUCK!
